There's something deeply pretentious about pointing a camera at something and trying to do more than capture its appearance: hence the Latin. Also, this is for fun so I get to take myself less seriously than in my other creative work.
My cameras were an elderly Canon A640 Powershot which had a limited zoom, eccentric autofocus, and a bad habit of randomly draining its batteries. This has been replaced with a Lumix FZ72 which has an excellent zoom and autofocus and almost no bad habits, albeit it's still a poor man's DSLR. An Asus tablet has also been useful for capturing artefacts in glass cases.
Locations range across a whole three contiguous English counties in the south and south-west so if you're hoping for snow-capped mountains, glamour, exoticism, deserts, and jungles, you need to look elsewhere. I also seem to have a surfeit of old churches and not enough modern architecture, which is odd for an atheist who likes Corbusier.
